Other Dates & Projects

If the dates of the Houston Project do not fit into your ministry plan for your group, we can facilitate a similar project at any time throughout the year (i.e. Spring Break, Fall Break, extended weekends, or other weeks throughout the year).

Houston's First Baptist Church offers a variety of missions opportunities and training experiences in the city to help equip students for missional living in every day life. We can work with your team to cater an experience that will meet the specific needs of your group.

Experiences

A few types of experiences we offer include:

  1. Nehemiah Tour: This is a tour that will allow your students to encounter and experience the major religions and worldviews not only of Houston, but of the world. On the tour, your students will visit a Buddhist Temple, Asian marketplace, Muslim Mosque, a Bohemian neighborhood, and more. Houston is the 7th most diverse city in the world so you can add in any of the multitude of cultures available in Houston. This tour can last all day or half a day, depending on what you want your students to experience. The tour ends with a debriefing to help process everything the students have experienced throughout the day. This experience will help expand your student's missional worldview.
  2. Projects at HFBC Mission Churches: Houston's First Baptist Church partners with declining churches in strategic areas of the city to encourage growth and revitalization. Opportunities to work in the communities surrounding these churches, perform various work projects at the church campuses, and/or provide youth and children's events are just a few of the ways mission teams can bless and serve these churches. These events range in nature and magnitude.
  3. Partnering with other ministries in the city: Numerous Christ-centered shelters and organizations minister to homeless men, women, and children across Houston. HFBC partners with such organizations to plug teams in to day projects and get a wide variety of missions opportunities. From participating in a Street Church, to helping prepare and serve meals at a shelter, teams can serve those who are facing difficult seasons of life.
  4. Prayer Journey: Your team can participate in a strategic prayer journey throughout the city of Houston. On this journey your students will experience and have the opportunity to pray for the key areas in the Houston Metro.

More Than Serving

We desire to provide students with more than just opportunities to serve the people of Houston. Our hope is that students would also receive on the field training that would aid them as they learn what it means to live a missional life. We offer training in the following areas:
